Amanda is a third-year mature student studying Creative Writing in the Highlands and Islands BA (Hons) at The University of the Highlands and Islands. She is deeply influenced by her lecturers Dr Sara Bailey and Dr Mandy Haggith.
Amanda’s creative writing has been published in Northwords Now and Reflex Fiction. In 2018, she was shortlisted for The Scottish Mental Health Festival‘s International Creative Writing Competition, which led to her piece being published in their anthology, ‘Beginnings.’ In the same year, she won second place in Highland Lit‘s creative writing competition, ‘Highland Lights,’ and was subsequently published in their anthology of the same name.
Amanda’s ancestry and love for the Highland landscape is deeply ingrained in her writing. She is inspired by darkness and light in nature, people and artistic expression.
